With all the netbook craze going on the market place, I couldn't resist the temptation and purchased one for myself. I am pretty happy with what my Asus EEE PC 1000HE netbook delivers when browsing Internet, watching Youtube videos, writing documents or checking my Email, but what if… If I tried to use it as a portable recording studio? I realize that I cannot use built-in sound card for this task Because these are never good for anything other than talking on Skype or playing music. Additionally, since this netbook does not feature firewire ports, I have to go with the portable USB 2.0 card. I chose EMU 0202.
I will describe my experiences setting up this netbook for recording in a follow-up blog. …and while I am waiting for my USB card to arrive, I am citing the following article that may shed some light on what's possible to do with netbooks, at least for DJs.
The Indamixx DJ Netbook in Action article comes directly from the EEPC Blog.
More to come as I get to experiment with my own netbook!
